Privacy

This explains what we hold, why, and what you can do about it. It sits alongside our terms of service, and the data handling here also appears in section 6 of those terms.

Who we are

SkillsM8 is the data controller for the information described below. You can reach us at hello@skillsm8.com. SkillsM8 is offered from the United Kingdom and can be used from anywhere; wherever you use it from, it is governed by the law of England and Wales and by UK data protection law.

What we hold

We hold the details you give us: your name, email, grade, the skin tone you optionally declare for your practice material, any notes you add, and the footage itself. Our lawful basis is the contract described in the terms, which includes keeping the dataset that makes the service free.

Where it is stored

Everything is stored on servers in the UK and western Europe and never leaves the UK or EEA. Your reviewer never sees your name or email. Your identity sits separately, connected only by your reference number, and the data used for model development is handled in that form.

Analytics

We use privacy-friendly analytics to understand how the site is used, for example how many people visit and which pages they reach. It does not use cookies, it does not track you across other websites, and it is operated in a way that complies with UK data protection law. We never sell it, and we never sell any of your data.

Your footage

Your footage is not sold, licensed to any third party, or used in marketing. It is seen by your reviewer and used by SkillsM8 to develop the assessment model, and may appear in anonymised form in SkillsM8 research, education and publications.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you have all the rights that UK data protection law gives you: seeing what we hold, correcting it, and removal. To have your video removed, email hello@skillsm8.com quoting your reference number. We take it out of the dataset and out of all future model training.

One honest limit, stated in advance: if a model was trained before you asked for removal, it may already have learned statistical patterns from your video. Removal does not reverse models trained earlier. Nothing a model produces identifies you or reproduces your footage.

If you are unhappy you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office. We would rather you told us first at hello@skillsm8.com so we can put it right.

Marketing

Marketing email is separate. We only send it if you separately opted in, and you can stop it whenever you like.
